The Union is taking dozens of steps to make 2009 our 'greenest' Biennial yet by reducing our energy, water, and paper use; recycling more than ever; offering Learning Sessions on energy and environment issues; and highlighting congregational ‘best green practices’ so we can all take home some great greening ideas. Here is just a sampling of what we are up to.
The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is one of the most environmentally friendly, sustainably-built meeting centers in North America. The Convention Centre exemplifies environmental responsibility with its highly energy efficient lighting systems, 7 acre green roof, modern boiler system, and more.
The Union and the City of Toronto are already working toward greener, more sustainable meetings and facilities, but to reduce our environmental impact even further we need your help. There are so many things we can all do—at Biennial and beyond—to reduce our footprint and preserve our environment for ourselves and future generations. Consider your travel, energy use, food and other choices this Biennial as we take steps together to a “zero waste, zero carbon footprint” event.
